Here we go!
Hello there, and welcome! Let me introduce you to the very beginnings of Runestone Piercing! Behind the scenes we are James and Allison. James has been piercing for a long time. Like 20+ years or something. Me, Allison, I started in 2023. James and I? We’re married. James has taught me most of what I know. I have also had opportunities to sit in, shadow, and pierce under a few other piercers who have also been very helpful in my education! We have 4 boys at home who are homeschooled.
James and I met over a video game - The Elder Scrolls Online, a number of years ago…. 7, maybe? Sure, just over 7 years ago. That sounds about right 😂
It’s been a wild ride, for sure! Last year I was in the midst of a career change. I’ve had a number of jobs - vet assistant, Amazon warehouse worker, Chemist, Teacher, Artist, Horse trainer, and a few other things. So, why not? There was a need and it was the most logical and convenient option. It’s had it’s ups and downs, but ultimately, I am glad to be here. It’s a fun, and a cool job.
In the spring of this year, we sold our horse farm to obtain a simpler life for our family. We bought a piece of land in the hills of Kentucky, and we are building a home from the ground up! It’s been a humbling process so far, and no doubt it will continue to keep us both grounded.
Something else happened in the spring… we were presented with a cool opportunity to open our own shop. At the time, we were working at another studio, and initially passed. Then, we had to take a leave from that studio due to the move, and, well, when we inquired about returning to work, it was no longer available. However, it turned out that opportunity we thought we were going to pass on was still available! Low and behold… we are opening our own studio!
Due to all of the changes going on, and our extremely tight situation with building our new home, we have chosen to start a GoFundMe page for anyone who would like to help us on this venture. This is also good practice for us, as it is difficult and stressful to ask for help and accept what may or may not happen.
We are in the very beginning stages, securing funding, and lots of paperwork! We will be sure to keep you all updated. I can’t wait to be piercing again! Be well, lovely souls 👻
🖤 Allison
